Does a business need to be Christian led or employ Christians to need a Marketplace Chaplain?

The short answer is a categorical no! Often business leaders can be quick to dismiss the idea of a Marketplace Chaplaincy simply because of the faith aspect. Sometimes this can be because of the fact that they do not hold the same faith for whatever reason and other times it can be because they are aware that their workforce is not predominantly Christian oriented.

Do you need to be Christian to work with Marketplace Chaplains? For whatever reason, Marketplace Chaplains want to break down this barrier. Although as a chaplain, a Marketplace Chaplain is clearly entering the workplace as an authoritative representative of the Christian faith. However, to limit the work done by a chaplain to simply one of faith issues would be a huge understatement of their work.

Perhaps the most important goal of a Marketplace Chaplain is to meet people where they stand and where their needs are. A chaplain is first and foremost there to serve the workforce he or she is attached to.

By having a dedicated person whose sole responsibility is to talk to people, listen to employee concerns, understand not only the business as a workforce, but also the company aims and objectives, companies who employ a Marketplace Chaplain have discovered that they are employing someone who is not only for the employees of the company, but also for the company itself.

It is the practicalities of running alongside companies and supporting both levels of employee and management that has given Marketplace Chaplains the success rates and ROI levels over the previous 25 years. Being a Christian will not make your business more successful, but having the support of a Marketplace Chaplain will.
